Artist's Comments

This could have come out better but the wall I did it on was VERY uneven and it was difficult for the stencil to lay flat. Done in one pass with flat black spraypaint on a wall in my bedroom.

Thanks!
I took a huge piece of poster board, roughly 3ftx5ft, and drew the NES controller on it. I cut out the peices I wanted to be black with an Xacto knife, and then I taped the new "stencil" to the wall. I took black spraypaint, sprayed over the whole thing, and then removed the stencil, revealing the final image. The thing is, all of the stencils I make are re-usable so I can do this multiple times.
Hope this helps!

Xacto is a brand of knives/craft supplies here in the USA. An Xacto Knife is.... One of those small, very sharp, craft knives. Its VERY sharp, usually with replaceable blade, a metal handle, and sometimes the blades can retract back into the handle. Thats the best I can explain it, maybe try a Google search for "Xacto knife" if this explanation didn't help.

xacto knifes are way over priced. i suggest a 99cent box cutter from walmart. comes with dozens of replacement blades and works like a charm on poster board, and even acetate.

Quite true, I have several "box cutters", each with 10 blades of their own (and I'm pretty sure I got them from Walmart too), but I got 2 Xacto handles and 20 replacement blades for free from one of my college courses so I'll use them while I have them :)

Thanks for the comment!
